Files downloaded through SnapTik are usually saved in your browser's configured Downloads folder, not automatically inside the TikTok app. On iPhone and iPad, look in the Files app; on Android, check Files or My Files; on Windows and macOS, open the Downloads folder. A video appears in Photos or Gallery only when you explicitly save or move it there.
Typical download locations by device
| Device or browser | First place to check | Other useful place |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone or iPad | Files > Browse > Downloads | Safari's Downloads button or Photos if you chose Save Video |
| Android | Files, Files by Google, or My Files > Downloads | Browser download history, notifications, or Gallery for saved videos |
| Windows | File Explorer > Downloads | The browser's Downloads page |
| macOS | Finder > Downloads | The Dock's Downloads stack or browser download history |
| Linux or ChromeOS | Files > Downloads | The browser's Downloads page |
These are defaults, not guarantees. A browser can be configured to ask for a location every time, and managed devices may use a different folder. Cloud storage settings can also place an Apple device's Downloads folder under iCloud Drive rather than On My iPhone or On My iPad.
Find a download on iPhone or iPad
- Open Files and select Browse.
- Choose iCloud Drive or On My iPhone/iPad, then open Downloads.
- If you downloaded through Safari, tap Safari's download arrow to view recent items.
- Use the Files search field and search for part of the filename or an extension such as
.mp4or.mp3.
A file stored in Files does not necessarily appear in Photos. Open the completed video, use the system Share menu, and select Save Video if that option is available and you want a copy in Photos. This creates or moves a user-visible copy according to the app and system behavior; check both locations before downloading again.
Find a download on Android
Open the device's file manager and select Downloads or Recent. The exact app name varies among manufacturers. You can also open the browser menu and choose Downloads to see the filename, status, and destination. If the download completed as a video, a media scan may make it appear in Gallery later, but Files remains the more reliable first place to look.
If you used an in-app browser inside a social or messaging app, its download controls may be limited. Open the page in your regular browser and download again only after confirming the first attempt did not finish. This avoids collecting duplicate files with names ending in numbers such as (1) or -2.
Find a download on a computer
Open your browser's download history to reveal the file in its folder. Most desktop browsers also support a keyboard shortcut for the Downloads page, but using the browser menu works across different keyboard layouts. Select Show in folder, Open in Finder, or the equivalent command beside the completed item.
If you previously selected “Ask where to save each file,” the item may be in a project folder, on the Desktop, or on an external drive. Sort files by date modified and search for recent .mp4, .mp3, .jpg, .webp, or .zip files as appropriate.
Check the file type you requested
An audio download and a video download will not appear in the same media app on every device. An MP3 commonly opens in a music or audio player but may remain in Files, while an MP4 can usually be previewed as video. The practical differences are explained in TikTok MP3 versus MP4.
When using a TikTok MP3 downloader, search for an audio extension rather than expecting a thumbnail in Photos. A TikTok slideshow download may produce several images or an archive, depending on the available output. Extracted items will normally appear in a newly created folder selected by your archive app.
Why a downloaded file seems to be missing
- The download never started: the browser may have blocked a popup, redirect, or automatic download.
- The save prompt is still open: choose a destination and confirm Save.
- The item is incomplete: a temporary extension or progress indicator means the transfer did not finish.
- The filename is unfamiliar: sort by date and preview recent files instead of searching only for the creator's name.
- Storage is full: free sufficient space and begin a fresh download rather than renaming a partial file.
- Private browsing ended: the file may remain, but the browser's list of visited pages or recent activity can be cleared or unavailable.
Do not install a “file recovery” extension just to locate a recent download. First use the operating system's file search and the browser's own download history. If the item shows Failed, Canceled, or Blocked, work through browser download troubleshooting before trying repeatedly.
Organize and protect saved media
Rename a completed file only after confirming it opens correctly, and keep its extension intact. Move files you intend to retain into a clearly named folder and include the source or permission details in a note when appropriate. Delete duplicates and partial files to conserve storage. Downloading a file does not transfer ownership or permission to republish it, so store and use other people's content responsibly.
